Hotter than Fireworks on the 4th of July

The Dodgers continued to roll tonight with a solid performance against the Cubs. We combined timely hitting with some excellent pitching to end up on the good side of 6-1 score. Hopefully our hot streak will last through the holiday weekend and into our next game on Wednesday, July 6. Marching in the parade is still unknown, and we will hopefully find out asap and let everyone know through email and the team site. If we don’t march, hopefully we will see each other at the parade and Klode – it’s Coach Taft’s favorite holiday!

Dodgers in Action vs. Twins

Warning - Dodger Bats on Fire!

The bats certainly came alive this evening as the Dodgers outslugged the Twins on our way to the first victory of the season. Maybe it was the Sunday evening batting practice or the fact that summer might actually be here, but the girls in blue certainly took their game seriously tonight. We has some great pitching, a few fabulous plays in the field, and contact contact contact in the batter's box! The celebratory trip to DQ was a highlight as well. The highlights for the coaches so far are the improvement we have seen in every girl and the excitement they bring to Lydell every time we are there. see everyone on Wednesday for our game against the Cubs!

Is our pitching too good?

It may sound odd, but our pitchers did such a good job tonight, the Yankees had no choice but to hit the ball all over the infield ... and a couple into the outfield. We had a few plays in the field that were gems, and our bats should be heating up anytime soon. Tim and I are checking on the availability of Lydell for a possible optional practice on Sunday, so we will keep everyone posted via email. Hang in there, Dodgers!

The Dodgers IN ACTION!

Giant Killers ... (I mean tie-ers)

It was a dark and stormy night on Lydell Field as the Dodgers faced the Giants in an NL West showdown. We started out with a hot first inning, plating three ladies in blue and going through our max lineup. The Giants were able to chip away at our solid wall of defense, eventually tying the score as the third inning closed. Tactically, the game was similar to a fine chess match, with two grand masters facing each other in a stalemate. We hit the time limit, ending the game before we could send some more Dodgers around the bases. All in all, a great second effort by the Lady Bums!
We will see everyone on Monday at 5:00 as we take in the hometown Brewers. Have a great weekend!

Play Ball!

The Dodgers started out against the Cubs this evening, and although we were on the short end of the score, it was a solid beginning to the season. We loaded the bases a few times, made some great stops in the field, and even had a successful force at home - barehanded! We take on the Giants Wednesday at 5PM.

Some parents were asking about a snack sign up, and we decided not to do that this summer. We wanted to celebrate the first game with additional sugary goodness, but we don't feel the need to it every game!

Please make sure your girls put their names on their hats AND mitts, since many mitts are similar and they are often left at the field.
See you Wednesday. Go Dodgers!

Opening night tomorrow!

Our Dodgers are pumped to take on the Cubs in the season opener tomorrow evening at Lydell Field. We have enjoyed three solid practices, working on the fundamentals, finding our hitting strokes, grooming our pitching staff, and having fun. Our goal is to give every girl a chance to play positions all over the diamond. If girls want to pitch, we encourage them to practice at home as much as possible. See everyone tomorrow evening - it looks like we are in for a beautiful (if not a bit chilly) evening!

Welcome to the Dodgers!

Hello Dodgers! Coach Tim and Coach Chuck are excited to be working with everyone this season at our home away from home, Lydell Field. We are looking forward to an awesome summer as a team our goals are learning about the game of softball, developing our skills in hitting, throwing and fielding, and having fun. We will try to post Dodger information on this website, including pictures and videos from some of our games. We would love to have you all practice at home as well, especially now that school is (almost) out for summer. Get ready to play ball!
